Profile
Charles Ackerley began his pursuit of design at the age of 18. Ambitious and confident in his career path as an architect, Charles followed the advice of a family friend and notably successful architect and bypassed university, enrolling instead, in a one year drafting program. There, he was equipped with the technical expertise necessary to get a drafting job with an architecture firm. He learned quickly, gleaning knowledge and ideas from architects wise with experience. Over the years, Charles worked for large firms, handling large projects—hospitals, courthouses, educational facilities—and established himself as a true, cutting edge designer.
In 1992, Charles co-founded Jennings Ackerley, and began to build a
practice known for its thoughtful design, questioning preliminary research,
effective management, and exceptional client and contractor relationships.
Experienced in Health Care, Charles has led JA teams to question and
challenge conventional hospital design. Understanding and managing the
complexities of hospital design has prepared Charles for equally challenging
projects outside of health care.
Charles is a cutting edge designer. His practical knowledge of architectural solutions and reverence for quality design are complemented by his approach to each project as an opportunity to expand and develop the experience of space. Charles strives to instill the importance of design and effective team collaboration ultimately directing each project to its potential.
